I just ordered a whiteboard. It’s going in my main room where I’ll run into it every day, and it will have 4 questions:
Did you read? (Mental)
Did you train? (Physical)
Did you study? (Career)
Did you write? (Creativity)
A check mark will go next to each at the end of each day. The goal is to get to the point where I’m checking each one every day. That’s my commitment and the season of life I want to get to
Great piece Grant. Honored to be featured in my relentless chase of Chinese. And I’m thankful for all of our inspiring talks all weekend. Here’s to giving full effort no matter what season we find ourselves in
I commend Will for his accountability channel. I am barely making it by with my Duo streak!
I am facing a decision regarding continuing education in my career - it's a significant commitment which would impact both my finances, relationship, and working hours. I am also facing a life-change in terms of my relationship, which would doubly affect my finances and career. It's no longer my life that I will be concerned about, but also the life of my partner's. It's a hard transition. One of fierce independence (for which I fought for in teenage years to early adulthood) to interdependence. I have moved across the country 4 times in the past 7 years, with this past move the longest I've lasted in one place. I've found comfort in the idea of constantly moving on, and staying (settling down?) is scary. But, maybe this shift is not a bad thing - just a new season to embrace.
Maybe it would be helpful to list all the reasons it’s good to move, and all the reasons it’s good to stay. See which one resonates with you the most, despite the fears.
Great essay! What you call seasons, I call chapters in my life book. College, first career, marriage and family, second career launching and growing it, all the while trying to maintain balance with self care and socialization. A huge part of my self care has been exercise starting in college and going strong 40+ years. Socializing changes with the various chapters of my life but is always a priority. My goal is to have my life book one that’s filled with a collection of experiences and it looks like yours will be too and a most interesting read!

Luna, thanks so much for sharing something so personal!
I can totally relate to the desire to keep moving— I wrote about that just a couple weeks ago here https://theapocalypse.substack.com/p/frustration-first-aid
